The Agency for Strategic Reforms hosted a working meeting between the Director of the Agency, Bakhodir Rakhmatov, and the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective management and international cooperation, Suma Chakrabarti.
The meeting discussed priority projects being implemented by Chakrabarti’s office. In particular, the representative of the Office, Ms. Mandeep Bains, took part in the next meeting of the working group on the issues of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization in Geneva. He also noted that the efforts of Uzbekistan in implementing the legislative action plan on this very important issue are highly appreciated.
Director of the Agency B. Rakhmatov informed Mr. Chakrabarti about the new tasks assigned to the Agency by the Presidential Decree of November 8 of this year.
In particular, the Agency has currently developed a comprehensive reform program in 17 areas in the economy, social development and public administration.
The parties discussed possible expert and analytical support for the proposed reforms from Suma Chakrabarti’s office, especially on such an extremely important issue as reducing the share of the shadow economy.
The possibility of the Office’s support in organizing a meeting of promising leaders with representatives of leading foreign “think tanks” to discuss best practices for effective analysis and decision-making was also discussed.
