The Ministerial Conference was held under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The participants discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Italy.
The Conference consisted of three separate plenary sessions. The moderator of the session on topical issues of international and regional cooperation was the First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade – Director General of the Strategic Development Agency Laziz Kudratov:
“Over the past few years, partnership relations between Central Asian countries have reached the highest level. It is based on the firm determination of the States of the region to jointly improve trade and economic cooperation. And it is pleasing that these initiatives are supported by Italy.”
Also the Ministers discussed the issues of deepening cooperation between Italy and Central Asia.
The participants also noted other priority areas of cooperation such as – the issues of developing joint mechanisms for further expansion of trade turnover and deepening industrial cooperation.
The priorities of promoting the “green” agenda and implementing a comprehensive strategy for the transition to a green economy were highlighted separately.
The participants of the event confirmed their commitment to join efforts to develop transport and transit potential in the region, including through the joint implementation of major logistics infrastructure projects, the introduction of uniform tariffs and preferences in the field of transportation.
Following the event, the parties agreed to continue an active dialogue aimed at strengthening “Italy – Central Asia” regional economic cooperation with attraction of investments and advanced technologies of Italian companies.
