Today in the capital summed up the results of the project “One Million Uzbek coders”. Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and UAE Minister of Government Affairs Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi participated in the ceremony.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications Development, for the Strategic Development Agency and the IT Park.
It should be noted that the launch of a joint project between Uzbekistan and the UAE in Tashkent was on November 21, 2019. As part of its implementation, the portal (uzbekcoders.uz) was launched, which allows distance learning programming in four areas of the course:
– data analysis;
– Android application development;
– Web application development;
– full-cycle software development.
Since the launch of the project, over 2.5 million people have registered on the platform “uzbekcoders.uz”, 1 million 557 thousand people have completed the first stage, of which over 1 million 175 thousand students have already received a certificate of completion.
During the implementation, more than 20 competitions were held with a total prize fund of more than $350 000 and 370 grants for training «Udacity Nanodegree».
Also, together with the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, online awareness-raising seminars were held for more than 2,200 school teachers, 450 Youth Union activists, 401 vocational school teachers and 251 university teachers.
2,137 schools have been selected and KPI indicators have been set for the implementation of the project in the educational process throughout the country.
An online competition was organized for the development of the best educational article in the Uzbek language on information technology, with a prize of $6,000 from the Emirate side, in which 12,000 people took part. Six people, including four students from general education schools, won the contest.
The winners of the following contests were officially announced during the event:
– “IT Park Cup” – the first online sports programming championship with a prize fund of $30 000;
– “Students Cup” – competition for students of 8 Tashkent universities, with a prize fund of $30 000. The competition is organized to develop entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem among students;
– “Open Data Challenge” 2020 – annual competition with a prize fund of $40 000, supported by the program “One Million Coders” and “Dubai Future Foundation” and aimed at the development of open data in information technology, entrepreneurship and economy of Uzbekistan.
In order to develop information technology and the popularization of this area among school students, the project “One Million Coders” will be introduced in the curriculum of general education schools in the subject “Computer Science” from grades 5 to 11.
On April 13, 2021, during the conference call under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced a program to issue interest-free loans to certified graduates of the program “One Million Uzbek Coders” for the purchase of computers.
As part of the solemn ceremony of summarising up the results of the project, today they awarded the winners in several nominations:
Khorezm region was recognized as the most active region, which received an annual license for 500 programming courses through the international platform Coursera. The platform allows you to get certificates from international IT companies such as Google, IBM, and Microsoft.
The 9th specialized school in Kashkadarya region was recognized as the most active school. As a prize, the school receives a Smart Classroom, an electronic library, a laptop for the teacher, and a one-year license for 100 Coursera courses.
The most active university was the Urgench branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, which received an IT lab, an electronic library, and a one-year license for 100 Coursera courses.
They also awarded winners in the categories “Most Active Teacher,” “Most Active Family,” and “Most Active Student”.
