With the participation of representatives of the Strategic Development Agency, Suma Chakrabarti, Presidential Advisor on Economic Development, Effective Management and International Cooperation, met with Kozimjon Kamilov, Chairman of the Supreme Court.
The focus is on the modernization of the legal and regulatory framework in the judicial and legal system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, bringing them into line with the requirements of the reforms of modern Uzbekistan and international standards.
According to Suma Chakrabarti, a lot of work has been done in the field of judicial and legal reform in Uzbekistan over the past five years, but at the same time, there are tasks to develop new projects for further effective action in this direction.
Therefore, Marie-Anne Birken, international legal expert and consultant to the project, suggested introducing into practice in Uzbekistan the institute of “judicial precedent,” which is effective in English common law. Proposals initiated by the Ministry of Justice have already been submitted to the relevant structures for consideration.
Proposals for the creation of an independent International Economic Court in Uzbekistan have been prepared and sent to the relevant ministries and departments for consideration.
Work on projects to improve the legal and regulatory framework in this area continues.
