A series of meetings for an authority in the field of journalism and communications, Jonathan Charles, were set up by the Strategic Development Agency (SDA), which serves as the coordinator of the consultants for the project office of the Presidential Adviser on Economic Development, Effective Governance, and International Cooperation, Suma Chakrabarti.
At a meeting with the management of the news channel “O’zbekiston 24” of the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan (NTRK), they discussed the current state of the sphere from personnel training to technical capabilities, the level of openness of state bodies for journalists and the qualifications of the latter, the tools used by modern mass media in crisis situations, the fight against fake news
It was highlighted that Uzbekistan earned a lot of experience during the pandemic for the advancement of local journalism and public relations. When state bodies together with the media, setting a single goal, worked in a single team to reliably and objectively inform the population about the quarantine situation, with a schedule of morbidity risks.
Jonathan Charles contends that over the past five years, Uzbekistan has truly opened up in a new way, both to society and to the outside world. Additionally, he already has a set of recommendations in mind as a specialist that will help to improve the way the government and society interact.
