The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is exploring opportunities to expand economic development programs in Uzbekistan in three priority areas: improving the competitiveness and diversification of the private sector, improving natural resource management, and improving a favorable business climate for a market economy.
To this end, USAID initiated the development of two new projects aimed at improving the enabling business environment and combating climate change.
How effective and necessary is implementing these projects in Uzbekistan for this period – questions were discussed during the meeting of representatives with the leadership of the Strategic Development Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan (SDA).
In particular, measures were considered to strengthen the role of women and youth in entrepreneurship, improve their business skills, create effective value chains for goods, and improve the quality of services.
The projects proposed for cooperation are currently only at the initial stage of discussion. For the effective implementation of initiatives into practice, a detailed study of proposals is required, with weighted pros and cons in all areas of interaction.
Therefore, to determine areas of cooperation and understand the priorities of state policy, a series of consultative meetings between the experts of the SDA and USAID will be organized between the parties, which will also involve experts from other ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan which are relevant to projects.
