A meeting was held at the Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR) with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) mission to discuss cooperation on financial sector reforms.
The meeting was attended by Abdulla Abdukadirov, First Deputy Director of the Agency for Strategic Reforms, Benita Ainabe, ADB Lead Financial Sector Specialist, Adham Kuchkarov, ADB Principal Private Sector Development Officer at the Uzbekistan Resident Mission, Malik A. Nadim, ADB Senior Financial Sector Specialist, as well as other representatives of the Agency.
The main objective of the mission’s visit was to conduct an initial assessment of priority and planned reforms, identify key barriers and stakeholder needs, discuss recently adopted regulatory acts, and determine areas of technical assistance for inclusion in the new program.
During the discussions, reforms in areas such as bond market development, privatization, and public-private partnerships (PPP), as well as the implementation of the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, were reviewed. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of monitoring and ensuring the effective implementation of reforms.
ADB representatives expressed readiness to provide financing for reforms in the banking sector and capital market under the new program, opening up new opportunities for institutional transformation and attracting investments.
Abdulla Abdukadirov emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to reforms and proposed organizing a working meeting with the ADB mission’s technical team in Uzbekistan, as well as initiating the exchange of analytical materials and the launch of joint research projects.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing constructive dialogue and close cooperation in developing the financial sector based on the principles of sustainability and openness.
